Wondershare Filmora Review: A Video Creator's Honest Take

Have you ever had this experience — using CapCut for video editing, but finding it lacks features like chroma key or multi-track editing? Switch to Premiere Pro, only to be overwhelmed by the complex interface?

That was me. I used CapCut for a while, but soon found its features insufficient for more complex video effects. Switching to Premiere Pro meant a steep learning curve I didn’t have time for.

Then a video-making friend recommended Wondershare Filmora, saying “more features than CapCut, easier to learn than Premiere Pro.” I tried it, and it’s true.

What is Wondershare Filmora? In One Sentence

Wondershare Filmora is a video editor that’s more professional than CapCut but easier to learn than Premiere Pro, supporting multi-track editing, chroma key, and 4K export. If you find CapCut’s features lacking but don’t want to learn Premiere Pro, it’s an excellent middle ground.

What Problems Does It Solve?

Problem One: CapCut’s Features Are Limited

CapCut is great for beginners, but after using it for a while, you’ll notice missing features. Multi-track editing exists but has limited tracks and inflexible operation.

Filmora supports multiple audio and video tracks — you can simultaneously add video, audio, subtitles, effects, and freely adjust their order. When making interview videos, I often need main footage, secondary footage, background music, subtitles, effects… five or six tracks running simultaneously, and Filmora handles it perfectly.

Moving from CapCut to Filmora, the biggest feeling is — finally able to work without restrictions.

Problem Two: Chroma Key Without Professional Software

I once wanted to make a virtual background video, the kind where you stand in front of a virtual scene. CapCut’s keying effect wasn’t great — edges weren’t clean.

Filmora’s chroma key works well. Shoot a green screen video, import it, click “Chroma Key,” and it automatically removes the green background, replacing it with whatever you want. Edge processing is natural, no “jagged edges.”

I made a “standing on the moon” video with this feature, and lots of people asked me how I did it.

Problem Three: Export Quality Isn’t Good Enough

CapCut’s exports are fine for Douyin and快手. But if you want higher quality videos like corporate promos or vlogs, CapCut’s export quality may fall short.

Filmora supports 4K resolution export with much better clarity. When I make corporate promo videos, I export in 4K with Filmora, and clients are impressed with the results.

Is It Hard to Learn? Much Easier Than Premiere Pro

  1. Go to the official site (filmora.wondershare.com), install
  2. Click “Import”, add your video and audio materials
  3. Click ”+” on the timeline to add needed tracks
  4. Use editing tools to trim, add transitions and filters
  5. For keying, click “Chroma Key,” done in one click
  6. Click “Export”, choose 4K resolution

If you’ve used CapCut, picking up Filmora is quick — the interface logic is similar, just with more features.
